Today we are very excited to announce a stronger and renewed partnership between Timeplus and Redpanda, bringing expanded connectivity options to enterprise real-time streaming analytics. Through this collaboration, Timeplus Enterprise will now embed Redpanda Connect with over 200+ connectors into its platform, dramatically expanding our customers' ability to integrate streaming data across their entire technology stack and extract valuable insight while the data is fresh. Timeplus will also contribute back Timeplus connectors to the open source ecosystem for Redpanda Connect standalone users to integrate with Timeplus Enterprise or the open source Timeplus Proton.
History
Timeplus Enterprise is made up of multiple components, among which is a core streaming analytics engine called Timeplusd. Timeplusd has native connectivity with various systems by what are known as "External Streams" or "External Tables". These native connectors included Redpanda (and other Apache Kafka API compatible systems), ClickHouse, and other Timeplus instances or clusters. This allows streaming pipelines to utilize these virtual streams as though they are native streams in Timeplus and used in JOINs, enrichment, and pattern detection queries as the data flows through Timeplusd. However, since there are strict requirements around offset management and replayability for some of these systems, not all data systems in the ecosystem are eligible to be "External Streams".
Expanding the Real-Time Data Ecosystem
For the much wider ecosystem of source and sink systems like Websockets, HTTP, or relational databases such as postgres and MySQL, Timeplus uses a specialized component called Timeplus Connector, built using an earlier fork of Benthos (now known as Redpanda Connect) with a handful of curated connectors (NATS, Websocket, among others). Timeplus Connector provides configuration wizards as well as REST APIs to manage the lifecycle of these connectors. This abstracts away the internals while bringing the data into native Timeplus streams or reading from the native streams and sending them to downstream systems.
Enterprise streaming analytics tend to be built on an ever-growing number of siloed source and sink systems that require bridging while making the appropriate transformations suitable for downstream needs. Whether you're monitoring IoT sensors, analyzing customer behavior, or detecting fraud, the ability to seamlessly connect and analyze streaming data is crucial. With increasing requests by Timeplus customers for further connectivity options, the natural next step was to import more of Redpanda Connect's connectors.
This partnership addresses that need head-on by:
Streamlining the development process with Redpanda Connect, a battle tested standardized connectivity framework while letting Timeplus Connector manage the lifecycle, recovery, and checkpointing of Redpanda Connect pipelines progress along with Timeplus streams
Providing instant access to 200+ pre-built connectors for numerous data sources and destinations (e.g. Websocket, PostgreSQL, NATS, Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Azure Blob Storage)
Exposing flexible connector configuration APIs (via the versatile Bloblang DSL) allowing for customization of things like headers, authentication, and lightweight transforms
Enabling rapid transformation (stateless or stateful) of data via Timeplus for consumption by popular enterprise systems, databases, cloud services, and alerting systems
Introducing Redpanda Connect in Timeplus Enterprise
Timeplus Enterprise users can get all the following benefits:
One place to manage connectivity from any supported source directly into or out of Timeplus processing pipelines for real-time data transformation and analytics
Push processed results to any supported destination for immediate action
Benefit from enterprise-grade reliability and security
Reduce development time with pre-built, tested integrations
Optional purchase of enterprise support for critical connectors from Redpanda for issues relating to Redpanda Connect framework and connectors distribution
Open Source Collaboration
In addition to the packaged Timeplus Connector offering, as part of our commitment to the developer community, we're excited to announce that Timeplus input and output modules will be open-sourced and available in the Redpanda Connect GitHub repository.
This means:
Power users can run the Open Source Redpanda Connect with a curated list of plugins including Timeplus input and output in conjunction with more advanced transformations using Bloblang
Developers can examine, customize, and contribute to the Timeplus input/output codebase
Community-driven improvements and new features
Transparent integration between Timeplus and Redpanda platforms
Accelerated innovation through collaborative development
Benefit to Enterprise and OSS Users
The combination of Timeplus Enterprise and Redpanda Connect delivers:
Simplified Architecture: Eliminate complex integration layers and reduce operational overhead
Enhanced Security: Enterprise-grade security controls and audit capabilities
Scalable Performance: Handle massive data volumes with optimized throughput
Reduced Time-to-Value: Deploy new intelligent data pipelines in minutes instead of weeks
